The Farm

It is produced milk on the farm, and we have 11 milk cows, as well as heifers and calves. We produce what we need to feed them. Some of it is taken from a growing field at our cabin in the mountains, Hundersetra. In the summer the cows are grazing at the farm.

Farm operations in the past. Early in the summer we went with the animals (cattle) up to the first cabin in the mountain, Slåsetra, located at 700 meters high. The time on the first cabin was until it was grazing check up on the mountain. Then the we went with the cattle to Hundersetera. Anne Lises grandfather, Jan Rybakken lined up a rock along this route, the path from Slåsetra to Hundersetera. This stone stands there today. During construction of a cabin site in the area, the stone was carefully guarded, and was left untouched. It can be seen from the road up to Hundersetera in the tree line (at the entrance to the town of Lund in Hafjell).

Slåsetra is situated in an area south of what is called the Hafjell (cabin area). Those who have been in the area would call it a little magical. It is only one house on the mountain farm left.

We'll tell a little story from Slåsetra. Jan, Anne Lises grandfather traveled by horse and sleigh to the farm in the christmas. He was going to get lining that was stored in the barn at the farm. A trip to Slåsetra at winter demanded so much time that he had to stay overnight. He tied his horse inside the barn at night, gave it a little lining to eat. The horse was well pleased. Jan walked into the house cabin and lay down to sleep. On the morning after the horse was tied in the barn very close to the door. No trace to see in the snow. Who would have moved the horse? It had probably not done it himself! There are stories about the "little people" .. Typical of these is that they rarely does anyone any harm, but they want to show that they are present. They tease people a little. Would you visit Slåsetra? Maybe you can experience the mystique of a magical landscape ...
